Grant has no doubt Birmingham have fight to beat drop

Birmingham City coach Peter Grant has no doubt the players have the fight in them to beat the drop.

The fierce pride and focus that the Carling Cup winners possess means that Championship football is just not on their agenda.

"The biggest pleasure I have had working with them is that they give their maximum, always," Grant, who replaced Roy Aitken on the coaching staff last July, told the Sunday Mercury.

"I can't give them enough praise for the way that they all want to try and play and train - even if they are not quite right.

"Other teams might have three or four who make themselves unavailable, but these boys just want to get out there all the time.

"You look at what a top coach like Arsene Wenger said, before the Carling Cup final, that one thing he knew was that this team goes for more than the 90 minutes.

"And that's something the players have got to take on board 100 per cent between now and the end of the season - that they never give up - and they will take it on board."
