Grant confident meeting West Ham playing traditions

Avram Grant says he is determined for West Ham United to play entertaining football next season.

Grant has succeeded Gianfranco Zola, who was sacked in the wake of the Hammers' narrow escape from dropping into the Championship.

The Israeli said: "The target for me is just not next season but the seasons after that. The owners have said to me though that, for this first year, they do not want to be in a relegation battle."

Grant is keen to buy into the playing traditions of the club.

"It is one of the reasons why I am here," he added. "We like the same kind of football. There is more than one way to win a game but I believe that you need to give entertainment. It is important we strive for that."
