Gower knows the youngster's arrival would make competition for midfield places even hotter.
But he says: "The manager is looking to push the club forward by bringing someone like Josh in.
"He looks like a fantastic talent, so I'd welcome that because it would give everyone the chance to train and play with quality players. It will give us a competitive edge among the midfield lads.
"At the moment, I have the shirt and hopefully I will keep it. I had to wait for my chance earlier in the season and unfortunately for Kemy, he got injured.
"But if I can keep performing and help the team win then the others will have to wait."
