Richard Gough has revealed he could have signed for West Ham United before moving to Everton.
Then Hammers boss Harry Redknapp told Gough he wanted him to help groom a young Rio Ferdinand, the now Manchester United defender.
Gough admitted to talkSPORT that he was tempted before speaking with Everton boss Walter Smith.
Smith's ties with Gough through Rangers swayed the deal in Everton's favour.
