Dan Gosling hopes his future at Newcastle United is in central midfield.
Gosling's versatility means he can play right wing and right-back too.
Yet his brief for the season is clear.
The former Everton midfielder told the Evening Chronicle: "I've always said that getting into the centre of midfield is my aim as it is my position. That will be what I'm trying to do this year.
"We have some good players who can also play there like Cheick Tiote and Joey Barton, so it will be tough.
"But that's what pre-season is all about for me, and it is up to me to force the hand of the manager."
