Former Everton youngster Dan Gosling is reported to have verbally agreed to join Newcastle United. The 20-year-old had reportedly agreed verbally to stay at Goodison Park, but an administrative error that saw the Toffees fail to offer a written deal before the deadline meant that the player could walk away for free.
The club challenged this, but a Premier League tribunal decided that the England Under-21 international could leave the Merseyside club on a Bosman transfer as his deal with the Blues had expired.
The Northern Echo now reports that the former Plymouth Argyle man has now verbally agreed to join the Magpies.
It has been speculated that the Tyneside club have handed the midfielder a four-year deal worth £25,000-a-week.
