Gosling backs Arsenal star Wilshere for England World Cup squad

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling believes Arsenal's Jack Wilshere should play for England in this year's World Cup.

The pair spent last season together while Wilshere was on loan with the south coast club, and they were able to get reacquainted on Sunday when Eddie Howe's men surprised the Gunners with a 2-1 win.

While Wilshere's time at Vitality Stadium was interrupted by injury, the 25-year-old has been in stellar form for the Gunners as of late, and Gosling believes he should have a ticket to Russia come June.

"I got to know him very well last season with how he plays," Gosling told the Daily Echo. He has that low centre of gravity and can get away with a turn of pace as well.

"I really enjoyed the battle and we had a laugh and a joke in the dressing room after – he said I should have been sent off!

"He is a great lad and he still keeps in touch with quite a few of us. He enjoyed his time here and we enjoyed having him, it was nice to see him back."

Asked if Wilshere should make Gareth Southgate's squad for Russia, Gosling replied: "I personally think they should take him.

"Not many players have what he has. If he can stay fit and keep producing performances like that, he should have a great season."
