Gordon vows to win back Sunderland spot

Craig Gordon has vowed to win back his place in the Sunderland team.

Sunderland smashed their transfer record when they bought Gordon for £9million from Hearts in the summer.

But after an indifferent start, Black Cats boss Roy Keane dropped Gordon and replaced him with Darren Ward.

"It was disappointing to get dropped. If you are fit, you want to play, I'm no different to anyone else in the squad in that respect," he said.

"I've got to try to get myself back in the team. You have got to pick yourself up and get on with it.

"I've thought a lot about it but you can't let it get you down, you've got to bounce back and the only way you can do that is by doing your best in training every single day."

Gordon does not begrudge Ward his current run in the side.

"I wished Darren all the best when he went in," said Gordon.

"I train with Darren every day and I want him to do well, we're all in this together."
