Gordon, Turner make successful returns for Sunderland reserves

Sunderland reserves coach Keith Bertschin says both goalkeeper Craig Gordon and defender Michael Turner made satisfactory returns for their win over Arsenal.

Sunderland reserves coach Keith Bertschin says both goalkeeper Craig Gordon and defender Michael Turner made satisfactory returns for their win over Arsenal.

Gordon hasn't played since last February after struggling with knee trouble while Turner has been out of action since November.

"Most senior players always show a decent attitude and Craig and Michael certainly have that," Bertschin told safc.com.

"Craig is just getting used to things again so the game served a purpose for him.

"Michael wasn't sore or stiff and he certainly wasn't exhausted. We know first-team games are more intense but at least he knows he can get through a game."
