England legend Gordon Banks is urging Jack Butland to stay with Stoke City.

He believes the 24 year-old keeper's career would be best served at this stage by remaining put to guarantee first-team games.

"I really do think the best thing for Jack at his age is to stay here at Stoke," said Banks, the club's president, to The Sentinel.

“As a Stoke fan, obviously I'd love to see him stay anyway, but if he stays I'm sure it won't have any affect on his England career and he can also help us to have a better season."

He added: “And for me, he's definitely the best goalkeeper in England in the making."
