Scottish goalkeeper legend Andy Goram says going to Sunderland has improved Craig Gordon.
"I would like to have seen him go to Arsenal or somewhere, where you have to make one save a game rather than seven or eight.
"I would rather he had gone to a really top-class side. No disrespect to Sunderland, but you need to know if he can make that one top-class save a game that marks out the greats.
"I think he can do it. Personally, I don't think he will be staying at Sunderland for too long. I think he will be going on to bigger and better things than that.
"His price tag has nothing to do with anything. It's £9million, but that's not what makes you a top-class keeper. He is a top-class keeper, the price tag is irrelevant. That is just a compliment to what he has done and achieved in his career. And he is still only a kid.
"I hope people rate him with myself and Jim Leighton. I'm no legend in Scotland terms, but you look at Leighton and Alan Rough, and if Craig can go and do what those guys did, then fair play to him."
