David Goodwillie has left Dundee United to join English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers. The 22-year old striker has signed a four-year deal with the Lancashire outfit for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £2million with about £800,000 of add-ons and bonuses.
Goodwillie scored 17 goals in the Scottish Premier League last season to be crowned the Young Player of the Year and subsequently gain plenty of attention from the likes of Rangers, Blackpool and Cardiff City this summer.
But he has landed at Ewood Park with a statement on Blackburn's official website confirming the move.
"Rovers have seen off fierce competition from a host of other clubs to make their first signing of the summer."
A further statement on United's official website read: "Dundee United confirm that the transfer of David Goodwillie to Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee is now complete.
"Everyone at Dundee United thanks David for his efforts in his time at the club and wishes him all the best for his future career."
