Curtis Good made his senior debut for Newcastle United in their Capital One Cup win over Morecambe at the Globe Arena on Wednesday night.
The 20-year old Australian defender put in a full 90 minute shift for Alan Pardew's Magpies as they defeated their League Two opponents 2-0 in the second round of the league cup.
Shola and Sammy Ameobi scored late goals to spare Newcastle's blushes but it was the performances of the likes of Good, Gael Bigirimana and Dan Gosling which pleased Pardew to no end.
"I have just said to the players in there, the club owes a big thank you to Gael Bigirimana and Dan Gosling and Curtis Good for getting us a win because it's going to raise everyone's spirits in the first team," he said.
"It's taken a little bit of pressure off them, the first goals, the first win. Let's hope on Saturday (when Fulham visit in the Premier League) we get a win and then you would have to say that is a start we can accept because four points out of those three games is okay.
"But we have got to win on Saturday and that's what we are going to try to do."
Good joined the Toon from Melbourne Heart in July 2012 and spent time on loan with Bradford City last season prior to this week's debut first team appearance.
