Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes says they go into their Premiership opener with Manchester City full of confidence.
Gomes insists back-to-back wins against Benfica and Fiorentina have set us up nicely for the big kick-off on Saturday.
"It was a hard game and to win was good for our confidence before the start of the season," Gomes, who could do little about Fiorentina's goals in the first half, told the Spurs website.
"A game like that is ideal for preparation and we showed where we are in the second half. We came back well and to come back and win a game like that is important. It was a good win against a difficult team."
Gomes insisted the team learned quickly from the loss against Villarreal. "It's normal to have a result like that in pre-season and you try not to get a bad feeling about it," he added.
"We learn from it, take the best things from the game and then we played well in Benfica and now Fiorentina. As I said, these performances will give us a lot of confidence."
As for City, Gomes said the big spenders were ideal opposition for the opening day. "We all look forward to that game," he said.
"They are a very good side and proved that last season. We started the season against a great side in Liverpool last season and won that game. Let's hope we do the same this season."
