Gomes accepts Spurs face massive month

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes knows they face a massive few weeks ahead.

A trip to Aston Villa is first up on Sunday with Martin O'Neill's side chasing a Champions League spot followed by Chelsea at the Lane on Saturday week, March 21.

It's a tough task but Gomes points to our league record of just one defeat against the current top four - Villa at home back in September. Add in fifth-placed Arsenal and it's one defeat in six so far against the top five.

"These are massive games and we play well on these occasions," said the keeper on the Spurs website. "You only have to look at our results this season.

"Villa are a great team, they are playing well but so are we at the moment.

"We have learned some hard lessons," added Gomes, with reference to a run of late defeats on our travels. "We lost four games in the final minutes and you work so hard, then you get hit so late. That's difficult to take.

"Things are much better now though. I believe in us and we are ready for this challenge."
