Gold sees Champions League future for West Ham

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold is convinced they can be playing in the Champions League in the future.

Having steered the club back into the big time via the League One Play Off Final, Gold and fellow West Ham supremo David Sullivan are ready for part two of their master plan.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: "I would like to establish West Ham as a major force in the Premier League.

"What level that takes us to only time will tell. Does it take us all the way into the top six or the top four? We will have to see. But that is my ambition.

"Right now, I am realistic enough to know we need to stabilise the football club, bring back the pride - which I think is coming - and to ensure it is sound and strong in the Premier League.

"And - on a personal level - I'd like to win the FA Cup. In fact, either of the domestic cups would be a success."
