West Ham United chief David Gold says they remain in contact with Barcelona midfielder Alex Song.

The Hammers are also hopeful that they can still secure the services of Song, who enjoyed a successful season-long loan at Upton Park last term.

"We enjoyed Alex Song's contribution but these things are ongoing.

"We're not panicking, we're not going to do poor deals, we're going to do sensible deals and I think by the time we kick off we should be in good shape," said Gold.
