West Ham United co-chairman David Gold insists that the club will buy a new striker before the transfer window shuts down.
Hammers lost Enner Valencia to an injury during their Europa League qualifier against Astra last week and this has made the need for a striker even more pressing for the club.
Gold has revealed that a new striker was a target even before Valencia's injury, but is now a necessity.
He said: "I would have thought [we will sign] at least two new players, not necessarily before we kick off but before the window closes.
"We've lost Valencia for the beginning of the season. We were already believing that we required another striker in the squad and we'll be doing everything in our power to bring in the best players that we can."
The Hammers also recently lost Andy Carroll until October making their need for another attacker absolutely necessary.
