Matthew Upson is being urged to pen a new contract with West Ham United.
Upson is also facing uncertain times at West Ham as he is into the final year of his contract.
Co-chairman David Gold wants him to stay and sign a new deal but resisted the temptation to sell Upson in August rather than lose him for free next summer.
Gold said: "We would love him to sign a new contract and stay for the rest of his career at West Ham but there's no mad rush.
"The transfer window is closed and he has the rest of the season on his contract."
