GOLD CUP - Mexico take out USA in final

Mexico have won the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 4-2 victory over arch rivals USA. El Tri notched up their sixth championship win by coming back from a two-goal deficit to score twice in each half at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

USA midfielder Michael Bradley put his side ahead in the 8th minute with a glancing header at the front post from a Freddy Adu corner before Landon Donovan made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute when he neatly finished a through-ball from Clint Dempsey.

Despite finding themselves down, Mexico were still playing an attacking brand of football and managed to get themselves back into the contest when Pablo Barrera struck Javier Hernandez's pass home with a first-time shot just before the half-hour mark.

Then all of a sudden it was 2-2 when Andres Guardado completed a tap-in from close range before he turned provider with a nice ball for Barrera who hit a sweet shot with the outside of his right boot in the 50th minute to give Mexico the lead.

And the comeback was complete when Giovani dos Santos scored an absolutely brilliant goal in the 76th minute, controlling the ball in front of USA goalkeeper Tim Howard before turning away from goal, getting past a few defenders and deftly chipping into the top left corner.

The US had some chances to close the gap when the score was 3-2 with Dempsey's shot hitting the crossbar a defining moment as Jose Manuel de la Torre's men held on for a famous victory in front of a sellout crowd of more than 93,000.
