Gold Coast win could be a turning point for North Queensland Fury

North Queensland Fury captain Ufuk Talay believes last night's 2-1 away win over Gold Coast United could be a turning point for the club.

The Fury fell behind early in the piece but rallied to net an equalizer through David Williams before Talay supplied the winner with just over 20 minutes remaining.

He feels that such a character-building win can really get things going for the A-League's bottom side.

"I think this is a turning point for us, winning away to Gold Coast who have been playing well for the last 10 weeks or so," he said.

"Winning away and getting three points gives us a lot of confidence to play the game well on Saturday against Newcastle."

Fury coach Franz Straka was full of praise for his charges who battled for the entire 90 minutes to achieve the result.

"It was brilliant from Uffie (Talay) and also from Willow (Williams) - it was so important to win and I am really happy with that," Straka said.

"It wasn't easy ... but it was brilliant fight."
