Gold Coast United's van den Brink offered contract by Busan I'Park

Korean outfit Busan I'Park have offered a contract to Gold Coast United midfielder/defender Bas van den Brink. The versatile Dutchman week flew to Korea for transfer talks and it is believed the K-League club have presented him with a two-year deal worth around $700,000.

United coach Miron Bleiberg confirmed that van den Brink had been in talks with Busan but admitted he was still a very strong chance of re-signing with the Gold Coast.

"Bas has been an offered a contract in Korea and we gave him permission to fly to Busan to have a look and make a final decision," the coach told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

"Whatever happens he will remain with us until the end of the season (the A-League grand final is on March 11) and maybe he will stay longer.

"He's having a look at the lifestyle there and it's anything but a done deal. What we are offering may not be as much financially but it is not too far short.

"We want him to stay but we are not a club that stands in the way of players. It is not always about money and I'm hopeful we can hang onto Bas.

"I can also state that no player will leave the Gold Coast before the end of the season and Bas is contracted with us until the end of March.

"The interest from Korea is obviously a sign that he has been playing well and that has not gone unnoticed."
