Gold Coast United defender Bas van den Brink has been cleared of any serious damage following an awkward fall in Friday night's 2-1 loss to Adelaide United.
The Dutchman, who scored a cracking goal on the stroke of half-time in the defeat, fell uneasily on his head after an aerial challenge with Sergio van Dijk and was taken for precautionary X-rays after the match.
But results have shown no damage but van den Brink is likely to miss the clash with North Queensland Fury on Wednesday night.
Fellow defender Kristian Rees said his absence would leave a hole in defence as the team is already without Dino Djulbic, Michael Thwaite and goalkeeper Glen Moss.
"We're missing Dino and James (Brown) with suspension and Bas might be doubtful but we have to use the full depth of the squad and the boys have got to be ready and prepared," Rees told the Gold Coast Bulletin. "It's disappointing but we have to look forward now to our game next Wednesday and close that gap on (second-placed) Adelaide."
