Gold Coast United striker Bruce Djite took the first step to silencing his critics last weekend when he guided his new club to a strong win in the A-League.

The 23-year old returned to Australia’s top flight in August after trying his luck in Turkey with Genclerbirligi and Diyarbakirspor (on loan) and in the past two matches, has shown the form that gave him so much promise when he left Adelaide United in 2008.

Djite opened up his Gold Coast account on September 26 in the 1-1 draw with Sydney FC but it was last weekend against Wellington Phoenix where he really excelled, netting twice in the 3-1 win, earning him selection in the tribalfootball.com A-League Team of the Week.

Djite has come under fire from some sections of the media after his so-so displays in Turkey but is on the trail back to being one of Australia’s most exciting strikers if last weekend’s performance is anything to go by.
