Gold Coast United to regain Djite for Adelaide United meeting

Promising striker Bruce Djite is set to return to the Gold Coast United line-up following a month out because of injury.

The 23-year old has not played since the 0-0 draw with Melbourne Heart on October 23 but is almost certain to be deployed for the clash with Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow night.

Djite, who made his name as a Reds player, admits he will have mixed feelings when he runs out onto his old home ground.

"It's going to be an interesting feeling. It'll be good to be back there playing again, but definitely different to be doing it in the gold and blue of Gold Coast United and not the red of Adelaide. I've never really had this situation in my career yet, so I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure it'll be a great game," said Djite.

"We're having a bit of a bad run with injuries at the moment; it seems that as soon as someone gets better someone else drops out. Every club in the world has these sort of challenges and that's why you have a big squad to cope with it. We have a fantastic squad and anyone who is called upon to perform a role, or fill in for someone else, does it to the best of their ability and hopefully that should be enough for us on Friday.

"This is the game of the round (2nd v 3rd). The team has been doing amazingly well up to now and hopefully we can keep that going down at Hindmarsh."

The joy of welcoming back Djite has been offset by the loss of fellow attacker Joel Porter - the pair have still not had a good chance to forge a good playing relationship.

"Joel and I had a joke about it earlier; as soon as one of us gets better the other gets injured. The week that he comes back I'm going to take it easy in training!" he laughed.

"Hopefully, by the time the business end of the season comes around everyone will be fit and gelling really well so we can go well in the finals."
