Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg says this weekend's blockbuster against Sydney FC is just what his team needs.
United have lost their last two matches and have slipped five points behind league leaders Sydney who have saluted in their past two outings.
Bleiberg admits there are easier teams to play to get back on the winners list but nominates the Sky Blues as the challenge his team requires.
"On paper you would think that it would be easier for us to get back to winning ways against any other team in the competition, but a challenge like this is what we need at the moment," Bleiberg said.
"Every game in the Hyundai A-League is an important game because you can go up and down the ladder from week to week.
"It's very important for us that our rivals do not get too far ahead of us at any stage, so it's fair to say that there is definitely added meaning to this game.
"They are top of the ladder for a reason and they are playing very well. If we can prove a point and get the result we're after this week, then the sky is the limit for us. For a confidence boost, we couldn't ask for a better game to play well in and emerge victorious."
Gold Coast host Sydney tomorrow night at Skilled Park - kick-off is at 8:00pm local time (9:00pm AEDT).
