Gold Coast signing van den Brink plans long-term stay

Gold Coast United signing Bas van den Brink is keen to make his stay in Australia long-term. The Dutchman joined the new A-League franchise from FC Omniworld and after just a few weeks on the Gold Coast, has found the city a place he would love to spend more time.

"I have a two-year deal here but I'm really hoping that this can develop into something beyond that. That will depend on how I play and how well we do," he said.

"This is an adventure for us and, so far, we couldn't be feeling more at home.

"Coming to Australia was something I've wanted for a while, once-in-a-lifetime chance and I don't think it's something Isabelle (wife) or myself will regret.

"Life is more laid back here and you have space to move. It's summer back in Holland now and it's still warmer here in winter."

The 26-year old defender, who has also had stints at FC Utrecht and FC Emmen in Holland, believes the dedication of his new club has been surprising.

"We have an excellent squad and from what I can see so far, the commitment of players, the positivity and desire and dedication is more than I ever saw in Holland."
