Gold Coast United defender/midfielder Steve Pantelidis believes every player on the list is as important as the other. The 26-year old, who has made a huge impact on the team in its first year in the A-League, says that to have success (which United are currently experiencing), you need all 23 players to be able to do their job.

And Pantelidis would know, being the member of two championship-winning squads during his time at Melbourne Victory.

"I think every player is equally important," Pantelidis told tribalfootball.com.

"It's a longer season this year and every player on the roster has a role to play. There is always going to be injuries and suspensions and every player will get a chance.

"It's great to have the likes of (Shane) Smeltz and (Joel) Porter but to have a successful season all 23 players have a role to play."

Pantelidis insists that despite their forward showing so far in 2009/10, Gold Coast are very wary of all the other clubs and ensure that on game day they take everything into account to try and get the best result possible.

"We always go into every game with confidence and believing we can beat any team in the league if we work hard and are committed," he added.

"However, on their day, any team can beat anyone. There are quality players in every team who can change the course of the game in an instant. Every game is very tough and there is no exception if you play the top or bottom teams."

The Melbourne-born Pantelidis seems to find himself in winning scenarios more often than not, being a part of two premierships with the Victory and now sitting pretty on top of the A-League with United and said there was little difference between the way the two clubs operated in order to achieve success.

"Both clubs are very professional and have great facilities," he added further.

"At Gold Coast United we are very fortunate to have Clive (Palmer) to provide us with everything we pretty much need or want. The training schedules are similar and both teams have very good individual players."

Pantelidis found in his final season with Victory that he was being constantly overlooked by Ernie Merrick so decided to make the move up north and it has paid great dividends so far as he is enjoying some career-best form, although he did not admit the fact.

"I have had a solid start to the season," he said humbly.

"I've been involved in every game which was one of my aims coming into this year. I have played a few different positions and I am really enjoying my football. As long as I contribute week in week out and do a job for the team I'm happy."

Gold Coast United take on the Wellington Phoenix this Sunday at Westpac Stadium and will be looking to record another three points to keep themselves at the summit of the A-League.
