Gold Coast's Bleiberg: Defeat a minor setback

Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg says he is unperturbed by his side's first loss on the weekend. The new A-League franchise, who were aiming for an undefeated season, were unraveled by the Newcastle Jets on Sunday but Bleiberg says it is just a minor setback in the overall scheme of things.

"I still feel we are the quality team in the competition, the one that plays the best football and has the most attacking intentions," Bleiberg said.

"Certainly we have suffered a setback and we acknowledge that, but our superiority will shine through again, hopefully starting against Sydney on Saturday (at Skilled Park).

"It's a big game, just the type we need to get back on course. I have no doubt we'll achieve that."

He added that he understands his team needs to adapt when things don't go their way.

"Newcastle got their goal and then basically parked the bus across their penalty area and we have to be smarter, clever and more creative in finding a way through that," he added.

"For the first time in the opening rounds of the season, we found ourselves behind and having to change the game and we didn't accomplish what we need to.

"It's a different story when we go ahead and other teams have to open up, when it's the other way round, we have to be able to adapt."
