Gold Coast owner Clive Palmer criticised by rival code

Gold Coast United Clive Palmer has been criticised by the coach of rival code club Gold Coast Titans.

The National Rugby League team's coach John Cartwright says that Palmer should not get too carried away about making a huge impression in the club's first season in the A-League and should concentrate on building a strong club and not just spending huge amounts of money.

"History will judge Clive Palmer," said Cartwright.

"People much prefer the humble approach than someone getting out there and shooting his mouth off.

"If he thinks that just because he has all this money he will buy a premiership, well the sporting world is littered with clubs who have tried and failed to do that.

"You can spend as much as you like on Socceroo internationals and try to buy a comp.

"I do have an issue with him judging us. I know nothing about him and I don't care how much money he has."

The latter comments coming after Palmer said the Titans would never win a premiership and that his team would take out the title in their first season in the A-League.

"The difference between us and them (the Titans) is that we will win the premiership and they probably never will," said Palmer.
