Gold Coast United have secured Wellington Phoenix striker Shane Smeltz to a three-year contract. The new A-League franchise are also expected to soon announce details of an agreement with Hartlepool United striker Joel Porter and are continuing their pursuit of Colchester defender Chris Coyne.

Smeltz is understood to have agreed a move to Gold Coast after being promised the club captaincy.
