Gold Coast to hold trials for remaining positions

Gold Coast United will hold a trial for about 20 players to fill the remaining two positions in their inaugural squad.

In an interesting move, owner Clive Palmer and coach Miron Bleiberg have decided to hold the trials to see who is right for the club and who will join names like Jason Culina, Shane Smeltz and Joel Porter.

"If I can sign a Gold Coaster ahead of somebody else I will, but in the end we will sign whoever is the best," said Bleiberg.

The trials are expected to take place in May.
