Gold Coast United delivered five goals to a bumper home crowd in victory over Newcastle Jets tonight.

The hosts thumped the Jets 5-1 in front of over 14,700 fans.

Australia international striker Bruce Djite fired home a hat-trick with attacking partner Shane Smeltz and fullback Adama Traore also getting on the scoresheet in the romp.

For the visitors, Chinese striker Zhang Shuo struck late on for a consolation.

The result all but assures Gold Coast of another finals campaign and strengthens their push for a top two finish.
