Gold Coast allocate just 5,000 tickets for first pre-season clash

Gold Coast United have released just 5,000 tickets for their first pre-season clash, against North Queensland Fury on June 23.

United CEO Clive Mensink believes that opening up the gates to everybody may spoil things for the real unveiling of the club in round one of the A-League season so has decided to limit the amount of tickets.

"We're playing the Fury in our first A-League game at home (August 15) and we have a big game against Fulham at Skilled Park (July 8), so our intention with this first match is to keep it to a boutique size," he explained.

"While it's the first time we'll have the entire squad together in a competitive setting, it's still going to be in a pre-season environment and we want to keep it in the correct proportion.

"The last thing we want to do is detract from the bigger matches ahead, and the 5000 allocation will also apply when we play the Mariners at Skilled Park (on July 18)."
