Borussia Monchengladbach defender Steve Gohouri has joined a chorus of players who are aspiring to make it in the English Premier League.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to Newcastle United and although there are clubs from other leagues interested in his services, he says the physicality of the English game would suit him more.

"I am back playing very well, that is why clubs all over the world - there are clubs in France and Russia - are after me," Gohouri told skysports.com.

"However, my next move has to be in the Premiership. There are clubs showing some interest, but to be honest the Premiership is not an obsession.

"I love the Spanish league as well, however, in the Premiership the physical contact is more, so I can enjoy myself more there."
