Glaring miss just a blot on Zamora’s copybook – Fulham’s Hodgson

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has described an error made by striker Bobby Zamora as a ‘glaring miss’ but was full of praise for his overall performance in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Zamora could have put the Cottagers in front just two minutes after half-time but his miss from six yards proved to be costly as just seven minutes later City went ahead.

Fulham did manage to salvage a point thanks to goals from Damien Duff and Clint Dempsey and although Zamora did miss, Hodgson praised his performance.

"It was an horrific miss and it was a pity because he played so well,” Hodgson said.

"Unfortunately people who watch on the TV will see the miss and they won't see the 96 minutes and 45 seconds in which he was absolutely magnificent.

"Really it should have been seen as the crowning moment of a great performance but instead it is going to be seen as a glaring miss and a blot on his copybook which is sad for him.

"But if you want a good example of the character and resilience of this team and its ability to bounce back, Bobby's performance in the last 30 minutes shows that."
