Borussia Monchengladbach are ready to try again to keep hold of Andreas Christensen for next season.
The Dane is expected to return to parent club Chelsea this summer, but his father has warned he won't stick around if he is only there as a reserve.
BILD says Chelsea's move for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has further encouraged Gladbach over the prospect of signing Christensen outright.
The Denmark defender has been linked to Saints as part of a swap - a deal which his father, Sten, has completely ruled out.
"Andreas will not be part of a swap deal with Southampton. This can definitely not happen," said Sten, who also declared: "He will not return to London to sit on the bench."
Gladbach GM Max Eberl has confirmed they're prepared to make Christensen the club's record signing - if Chelsea can be persuaded to sell.
