Borussia Monchengladbach have explained sending Josh King back to Manchester United.

Gladbach chief Max Eberl admits King's injury problems forced the decision.

"He will return to Manchester," the sporting director told Rheinische Post.

King was struggling to find his way into the Gladbach squad even when fit, "so it makes no sense for him to stay," Eberl added.
