Former Charlton Athletic star Holland believes Given deserves to be a Premier League No1.
He told talkSPORT: "It's madness that he doesn't play week in week out in the Premier League because he is a top-class goalkeeper.
"He's 35-years-old, and if you look this week at Spurs buying Brad Friedel who is 40-years-old on a two-year deal.
"It just goes to show that Shay Given has got plenty of longevity left in his career. I hope that in the summer that maybe he'll go and play somewhere and get a move where he can play as number one because certainly his talent deserves that."
