Newcastle United legend Shay Given has warned Mike Ashley that the value of the club is decreasing with every loss.

Ashley had put up United up for sale a few months ago, but the billionaire owner has yet to sanction the sale of the club as interested parties have not agreed to match his £400million valuation.

During the time of the negotiations, Newcastle have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches and club legend Given has warned Ashley that with every defeat, the value of the Magpies is going down.

Given said: "The longer it is going on the more it is devaluing the club. The closer and closer they get to the relegation zone, the potential new owners could say they want to pay £20-30 million less."
