Newcastle have given goalkeeper Shay Given permission to talk to Manchester City. Although a fee has yet to be agreed for the Republic of Ireland international, he appears to be closing in on a move to the Eastlands club.
City have already had one bid for the Toon stopper of £5m rejected by Newcastle as derisory.
