Manchester City assistant manager Domenec Torrent is being lined up to take charge of Girona.

Departing Girona head coach Pablo Machin is set to be named Sevilla boss this week and Torrent is being lined up as his replacement.

City and Girona enjoy a formal relationship and the LaLiga club have approved the prospect of Torrent taking charge.

Girona sports chief Quique Cárcel has held talks with Torrent and City boss Pep Guardiola is willing to release him from his contract to take up the post at their Spanish partners.

Torrent was in Girona on Friday for a club function and like Machin, he could take up his new job this week.
