Girona have confirmed their sale to Manchester City.

City have taken a majority stake in the LaLiga club this week.

Girona president Delfí Geli said: "We are delighted to be able to confirm the new investment by the City Football Group and the Girona Football Group.

"Both partners have demonstrated a successful track record in their respective fields, which can provide us with knowledge and support of incalculable value to continue the hard work that has given us so many successes in recent years, as well as to lay the foundations that allow us to fulfill our goal of consolidating ourselves as a club of the highest level."

City chief Ferran Soriano added: "Girona is a club whose work reflects its enormous ambition.

"We are united by the ambition to stay long and achieve many successes in the Primera Division, but also the same way of doing things and common aspirations. For us it was very attractive to invest in the future of Girona."
