Former Newcastle United star Keith Gillespie feels his old club have too many Frenchmen in Alan Pardew's squad.
Gillespie believes the foreigners were found wanting for the derby defeat at Sunderland.
"Newcastle need a few more established English Premier League players because it is something Newcastle fans have got used to in the past," Gillespie told talkSPORT.
"There have been way too many French signings. I can understand why Alan Pardew has done it because you can get cheaper players on the continent but for a club like Newcastle they don't have enough home-grown players."
