Gill must end all Man Utd ties to go for FA chairmanship

David Gill must break all ties with Manchester United if he wants to run for the FA chairman's post.

The Mail on Sunday says Gill must sever all ties with the club if he is to stand to succeed David Bernstein, who will quit this summer after losing his battle to extend his term of office beyond his 70th birthday.

Gill is stepping down as chief executive at United, but will remain with the club as a director.
