Gilberto denies claims of potential Toronto exit

Toronto FC's Designated Player Gilberto has denied suggestions he could be on his way at Toronto FC this off-season.

Rumours have speculated the potential exit of the 25-year old Brazilian striker who joined the Reds as a DP at the end of 2013 but the former Internacional man insists he is going nowhere.

"No, the rumors aren't true," Gilberto said through a translator.

"Any report you've seen of me, you know I've always been happy, I've always commented that I'm happy at the club.

"Now is really not the time to be talking about transfers; it's not even up to me, it's up to the club, the GM and the coach about next season and what they want to do with the team.

"I'm happy here. If I'm going to leave or not, it's not up to me," he added. "I have no complaints about the club and I'm happy to play here."

Gilberto's first season in MLS has yielded seven goals from 27 appearances for TFC ahead of their season finale against New England Revolution this weekend.
