Gilardino explains Fiorentina penalty row
Alberto Gilardino has explained why he insisted on taking Fiorentina's penalty in Saturday's victory over Genoa.
Gilardino went against regular penalty taker Stevan Jovetic - and also coach Cesare Prandelli - to convert the spotkick in the 3-0 win.
“It felt so right this evening,” insisted Gilardino. “In training I usually don’t stay back to practice penalties, but this time I really felt it.
“We had a great game, just as we did against Napoli last week. You could feel the hunger of the team and Prandelli.”
