West Bromwich Albion have shelved their bid to land Olympique Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac.
The 29-year-old free agent is close to joining Mexican side Tigres from Marseille.
It is understood Tony Pulis had cooled his interest some weeks ago when the prospect of having to hand him at least a £50,000 top-earner salary on top of a bank-busting signing-on fee became a reality.
Pulis is after two strikers, two wingers, two full-backs and a goalkeeper.
