Giggs: Wales captaincy will help Liverpool's Bellamy

Manchester United ace Ryan Giggs believes the Wales captaincy will improve the game of Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy.

Giggs revealed: "As I put the armband on Craig I wished him all the best and said: 'enjoy yourself'.

"He's a proud Welshman and he'll be a very good captain. In the two games he was captain when I was injured, it improved his performance.

"Some players react to responsibility and Craig is like that. He'll enjoy the captaincy and his displays will get better. He's a leader on and off the pitch."

Wales defender Danny Gabbidon says Bellamy and Giggs are two contrasting personalities and expects Bellamy to hand out more tongue-lashings.

West Ham centre-back Gabbidon said: "Ryan is more quiet and leads with his performances, while Craig is very enthusiastic.

"Craig will do a good job as captain and we look forward to playing under him. I am sure that the captaincy will change Craig."
