Giggs urges Man Utd to keep performing at lofty heights

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has pushed for his teammates to continue playing at the standard they have set themselves this season. The evergreen Welshman was given a night off as United hammered FC Schalke 4-1 in the Champions League semi-final second leg at Old Trafford last night as the club gets ready for Sunday's showdown with Chelsea in the Premier League.

The meeting between the top two sides in Manchester could bring about the title winner for this campaign and Giggs is sure that it will be his side if they can maintain the level of performance they were able to produce in Europe.

"If we play to the level of that performance, we will be very difficult to beat," said Giggs.

"That is the benchmark. We have to try and keep to it."

United seemed to have relinquished a big lead to the Blues in the race for the Premiership but Giggs is remaining positive despite a loss of points in recent weeks.

"We have not thought about losing a big lead," he added.

"We have had some tough games where we have dropped points.

"Newcastle away. Arsenal away. In the Newcastle game we played well. There is probably only Arsenal in the last couple of months where we have not turned up.

"Generally our form is good. We are confident we can beat any team at Old Trafford."
